Flu season is nearly upon us! To stay protected from the flu this year, it is important that you and your loved ones are vaccinated. The flu strain changes each year, so, to counter this a new vaccine is released to be appropriate for the season ahead . It is important therefore to make sure you are updating your vaccination at the start of every flu season.

People often confuse a cold for the flu. This holds true until they actually catch a case of influenza. Symptoms of the flu are far more intense than a cold and can linger for far longer.  Healthdirect.gov.au, the federal government source of health information and advice has more information on cold and flu symptoms, treatment and prevention.

When to get a vaccination

The government recommendation is that the flu season begins in April. It also generally takes around 2 weeks for the vaccine to kick in once you receive it, so now is the time to make your appointment and protect yourself.

Fees

The vaccines are usually charged at $20 per dose, but as an ongoing service to the community, Medical for Everybody will pay this cost and provide them free to the Medical for Everybody patients and RAW Fitness members in the months of March to end of May.

Availability of stock

As per last year, there was a delay in arrival of the vaccines. Nonetheless, we are anticipating delivery of stock to our clinic within the next fortnight.

Keep watch of this feed for immediate news of arrival.
